Start with hair that is completely dry & detangled before using Smooth-It. (For hair that is especially curly at the roots, we recommend pre-stretching the roots first for maximum sleekness)
Plug tool into an electrical outlet. Temperature dial will display OFF (the tool has not yet started heating).
Press the power icon button for 3-5 seconds; the tool will begin to heat.
Display will change from OFF to the default temperature of 370°F.
Once the tool begins to heat up, lock will engage in 3-5 seconds (as shown by a lock icon on display and "LOC" when you move the dial in its locked state). Numerals will blink until chosen heat setting is reached.
To select a different temperature, rotate the dial counterclockwise THEN IMMEDIATELY clockwise, to disengage the temperature lock. Then choose your heat setting by turning the dial clockwise to increase temperature or counterclockwise to decrease temperature.
Apply your L'ange heat protectant of choice.
Select a manageable section of hair - the section can be as wide as the tool, with a thickness of 1/2" to 1", depending on hair density and curl pattern.
Position the tool on top of the section of hair, starting close to the root. Slowly glide it down the hair, applying tension by keeping the hair close to the base for maximum smoothness.
Depending on the curl pattern of your hair, an additional pass may be desired.
Once you're finished styling, press and hold power icon button for 3-5 seconds to turn tool OFF.
Unplug Smooth-It and wait until completely cooled before storing away.
User Tip: Make sure to keep tension on the hair when you use Smooth-It to optimize its effectiveness.
